Commentary

In 2012 whilst on a residency at Hotel Maria Kapel, Hoorn (NL) Harry Meadley and I carried out a duel with artworks. Guided by a found duelling rule book, we sealed themselves inside a purpose built Render Room, and took it in turns to call out an artwork, or in some cases, progression of artworks in retaliation to each of our attempts to finish the fight and silence each other.

In the lead up to the Code Duello exhibition in Amsterdam, fifty posters, each listing a single work from the duel, were posted at fifty sites across town, forming a path that led to the site of the exhibition at Loods 6.
